Former MLA and All India Congress Committee (AICC) co-incharge Goa desk, Dr Anjali Nimbalkar’s quick thinking and compassion saved the life of an American passenger mid-air on Goa–New Delhi flight.

Dr Nimbalkar was travelling from Goa International Airport to New Delhi to attend an official engagement when, soon after the aircraft took off, a woman passenger began experiencing severe chest pain. The situation quickly turned critical as the woman showed distressing symptoms, including breathlessness and a feeble pulse, causing concern among passengers and the cabin crew.

Recognising the medical emergency, Dr Nimbalkar, a medical professional, immediately came forward to assist. She provided prompt first aid, carefully assessed the passenger’s condition and remained with her for nearly one-and-a-half hours. During this time, she continuously monitored the woman’s vital signs and administered necessary medication, ensuring that her condition gradually stabilised before the flight continued normally.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lauded Dr Nimbalkar’s actions. In a post on social media, the Chief Minister said that Dr Nimbalkar had rushed to assist an American woman who required urgent medical care mid-air. He described the incident as a moment of pride and highlighted that her presence of mind and prompt medical support helped avert a tragedy at cruising altitude.

According to the Chief Minister’s post, Dr Nimbalkar stayed by the passenger’s side for close to one-and-a-half hours, carefully monitoring her condition and administering medicines until she was stabilised, underscoring the critical role played by her timely intervention.
