ZP vote counting at 15 centres

The counting of votes for the Zilla Panchayat elections will be held across 15 centres on December 22. Polling will take place on December 20.
The State Election Commission has notified counting centres at the taluka level across Goa. The counting will start from 8 am onwards.
In Pernem, covering four ZP constituencies, the counting will take place at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Sawalwada. With nine ZP seats, the counting of votes for Bardez will take place at the Boxing Hall and Badminton Hall of the Peddem Sports Complex. For Tiswadi, the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium is notified as the counting centre for five constituencies.
In Bicholim, for four seats, counting will take place at the Narayan Zantye Multipurpose Hall, while in Sattari, it will take place at the Kadamba Bus Stand Hall. Sattari has three ZP seats.
The Government ITI Farmagudi is the notified counting centre for Ponda, which has seven seats, while the counting of votes for the nine seats of Salcete taluka will take place at the Mathany Saldanha Building.
The counting centre for Dharbandora (2) is the Office Complex Building, Sanguem (1) is the Government Sports Complex, Quepem (2) is at the Government Sports Complex, Canacona (2) is at the Government Higher Secondary School and Mormugao (2) will be at the Mormugao Port Institute.
A total of 226 candidates—111 in North Goa and 115 in South Goa—will be competing for 25 ZP seats each. A total of 8,68,637 voters will exercise their right to franchise, comprising 4,20,431 male voters and 4,48,201 female voters. The ZP elections will be a crucial battle between the parties ahead of the 2027 State Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the government has declared a paid holiday on December 20, the polling day, across the State.
