In a shocking incident, a 68-year-old man and his 39-year-old son from Bardez have been arrested by Mapusa police on charges of sexually assaulting two minor sisters, aged 8 and 10, who are their neighbours.
The mother of the victims filed a police complaint regarding the sexual assault which is alleged to have taken place last week. The girls, however, narrated the sexual abuse to their mother on Wednesday.
Acting on the complaint, police registered the complaint and recorded the statements of the victim girls. The accused were later arrested under different sections of BNS, the Goa Children's Act, the POCSO Act, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The accused were produced before a Mapusa court and they have been remanded to police custody for five days, as police investigations are in progress.
