Goa remained in the grip of hot and largely dry weather on Friday, with Panaji recording the highest maximum temperature of 34.2°C over the past 24 hours. The ‘feels like’ temperature touched 42.2°C, as daytime discomfort across the State continues to intensify.
The India Meteorological Department’s bulletin states that conditions are expected to remain largely hot, although light rain and thundershowers were witnessed in isolated parts during evening hours on Friday.
For Saturday, the forecast has pointed to dry weather and mainly sunny conditions across districts, with no warnings issued.
The five-day outlook indicates a mixed weather pattern, with brief isolated showers likely on April 19, followed by predominantly dry and sunny conditions from April 20 to April 22.
The IMD attributed the prevailing weather to a persistent north-south trough extending from Marathwada to the Gulf of Mannar, coupled with an anti-cyclonic circulation over interior Maharashtra and adjoining regions. These systems, it said, continue to influence the weather over Goa and neighbouring areas.
With no severe weather warnings in place, IMD officials said conditions are expected to remain stable, though the combination of heat and humidity is likely to keep daytime discomfort levels high across the State.
