IFFI 2025 introduces AI Film Festival, Hackathon to redefine storytelling

PANAJI: IFFI 2025 is set to push the boundaries of cinema with the launch of India’s first Artificial Intelligence Film Festival and Hackathon. Scheduled from November 20 to 28 during the 56th edition of the festival in Goa, the initiative is being organised in collaboration with LTIMindtree and the National Film Development Corporation. The platform aims to empower filmmakers, creators, technologists, and innovators to experiment with AI-driven storytelling and explore creative possibilities that could redefine the future of film.

“Cinema has always reflected the power of human imagination. Today, AI gives us a new lens that expands our ability to dream, design, and express,” said Shekhar Kapur, Festival Director of IFFI and Jury Chair of the AI Film Festival. “The IFFI AI Film Festival will be a playground for that evolution.”

Sujay Sen, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Interactive Services at LTIMindtree, added, “The future of storytelling lies at the confluence of human creativity and AI. This collaboration creates a platform to nurture innovation and bring the magic of AI to India’s creative economy.”

Prakash Magdum, Managing Director of NFDC, said, “IFFI has always celebrated emerging voices and technologies. Partnering with LTIMindtree and Shekhar Kapur allows us to extend this creative legacy into the world of AI responsibly, inclusively, and with a vision for global collaboration.”

The festival will showcase AI-generated films across fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental genres. A 48-hour Hackathon will challenge developers and storytellers to design AI-powered cinematic tools, while workshops and masterclasses will explore AI in film production, ethical storytelling, and emerging creative technologies.
