The Maina-Curtorim police have arrested one person for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl since September 2024.
In her complaint, the mother of the minor girl has stated that the accused, Amar Kulal, a resident of Curtorim, had allegedly sexually assaulted and committed rape, besides sexually harassing her minor daughter from September 2024 to January 6, 2026.
The accused has been arrested under Sections 64(1) and 65(2) of the BNS, Section 8(2) of the Goa Children Act, and Sections 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Veronica Coutinho of Maina Curtorim police station.

FIR filed over burglary at Nuvem
Meanwhile, the Maina-Curtorim police have registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with a burglary at a house in Nuvem, in which gold items and cash worth Rs 3.10 lakh were stolen.
According to the complaint filed by the house owner, Sandra Godinho, the incident occurred on January 11 between 8 am and 11.30 am, when the accused allegedly broke open the main door of her residence and decamped with valuables.
