PANAJI: An FIR citing trespassing and robbery has been registered by Panaji Police against villagers from Palem and Siridao who protested at the Town and Country Planning (TCP) office last weekend, demanding the scrapping of Section 39A.
Since St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar and several villagers camped at the TCP HQ even after office hours, the police are likely to summon them for questioning.
The TCP had filed a complaint with the police alleging thag 10 files from the dept had gone missing after the protest by the villagers.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday night confirmed the development, warning that all those who took the law into their hands will face action.
He also stated that a female employee alleged verbal abuse.
Update: Panaji police have registered a separate FIR against Palem-Siridao villagers for allegedly trespassing into Minister Vishwajit Rane's private residence at Dona Paula on Monday; the FIR names the accused persons.
Meanwhile, the Department of Town & Country Planning has submitted an official letter to Borkar informing that all change of zone cases -provisional and final- initiated under Section 39A of the TCP Act, 1974 in St Andre Constituency are suspended with immediate effect
