Alleging grave injustice against the Bahujan community, the Canacona branch of the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj (GBS) has strongly condemned the incident in which police allegedly dragged St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar from the Town and Country Planning (TCP) office in Canacona. The group has demanded the immediate dismissal of the police inspector involved.

Addressing a press conference at Gopalakrishna Temple in Mokhard-Bhatpal, GBS Canacona branch president Pravir Bhandari said the incident was not only an insult to the Bhandari community but also to the wider Bahujan Samaj. He said the organisation would not tolerate such incidents in the future and added that a police complaint would be filed.

GBS members said Borkar had visited the TCP office to demand the repeal of Section 39A and was allegedly removed by police officers present at the site. The organisation condemned the act, calling it humiliating and inhuman, and demanded strict action against the officer concerned.

GBS member Ramu Naik said a public representative had been humiliated and criticised what he described as government silence over the issue. He said the community would continue to protest against such incidents.

Venkatrai Naik and Shekhar Naik also spoke at the press meet. Others present included Gourish Bhandari, Ravi Naik, Prakash Bhandari, Jayesh Naik, Dilip Naik, Rajay Bhandari, Saish Bhandari, Shivanand Ashwelkar, Chandan Kolabkar, Rajesh Naik, Jayesh Bhandari, Ravindra Bhandari and Nilesh Bhandari.
