As per the latest weather update issued by IMD Goa, the monsoon has also advanced into some more parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, most parts of Tamil Nadu, and several regions of the Bay of Bengal and Northeastern States on June 6.

IMD has issued a yellow alert for Goa till June 10, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall activity across the State during the period.

Weather conditions remain favourable for the further advance of the monsoon into additional parts of the central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, and more areas of the Bay of Bengal over the next two to three days.

Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till June 9 in view of rough sea conditions and strong winds associated with the active monsoon system. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms and periods of intense rainfall.
