PANAJI: A 55-year-old scooter rider from Headland Sada, Vasco, lost his life on Saturday, after a car, allegedly being driven rashly by a 20-year-old from Baina, struck his stationary bike parked on the roadside at Rumdamawada, Mormugao.
Police said the accident took place at around 3.10 pm, as the car was heading towards Vasco. The impact left the rider critically injured. He was rushed to SDH Chicalim, but succumbed to injuries while in transit.
Mormugao Police have registered an offence under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigations are underway.
