Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has said short circuit at historic Lohia Maidan has exposed the apathy of BJP government towards maintaining places of historic importance.

Saying the denial of permission to hold election meetings on this vibrant venue is attack on democracy, Yuri said it’s time to remove the fuse of BJP on May 7 and switch off power of BJP.

Reacting to the denial of permissions to hold meetings at Lohia Maidan, leader of Opposition said that BJP's development itself is a short circuit.

“Government spent almost Rs five crores on so-called renovation of Lohia Maidan. The work was supposed to be completed in January 2022 but till date Lohia Maidan is craving for attention. What BJP Government has done is just a cosmetic makeover, pointed Yuri Alemao.

He added: “There was a door made exactly at the centre of the stage which was later closed after citizens raised objections. The so-called green room has become garbage room. The size of the stage is now reduced making it inconvenient to hold even meetings”.

Saying the government is deliberately turning a blind eye on all these places of historic importance which remind one of the Identity of Goa, Yuri said, “Despite me raising issue in Assembly and  written letters sent to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, government is avoiding to notify Lohia Maidan as place of historic importance. This exposes true face of BJP, "said Yuri Alemao.

“I want to know how can a short circuit take place in a newly renovated project? Who is responsible for it? I demand government must explain to Margao citizens if the crores spent have gone in drains," demanded Yuri.
