A series of road accidents reported across Goa over the past few days has once again raised serious concerns over reckless driving, speeding, and road safety enforcement on the state’s busy roads. Panic gripped the Dona Paula circle late last night after a speeding BMW allegedly rammed into multiple vehicles, causing chaos in the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

According to CCTV footage, the luxury car was travelling at high speed when it suddenly swerved into the right lane, first hitting a parked jeep before crashing into an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused commotion among motorists and bystanders nearby.

The BMW had a male driver and a female passenger inside at the time of the accident. After the collision, police personnel rushed to the spot to assess the situation and manage traffic.

Video footage from the crash site reportedly showed the BMW driver arguing aggressively and hurling abuses at the owner of the other car before allegedly calling his father for assistance.

Goa Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving along with charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol. Investigation into the incident is underway.

The crash has once again raised concerns over reckless driving involving luxury vehicles in the capital region.

The incident comes close on the heels of another serious accident reported just a few metres away, where a brand-new Mini Cooper allegedly driven by a businessman’s son rammed into a two-wheeler, killing the pillion rider on the spot and critically injuring the rider.

In another road mishap at St Inez near Four Roads, a moving water tanker reportedly crashed into the rear of a Karnataka-registered mini pickup goods carrier, triggering a chain-reaction collision. The force of the impact pushed the pickup vehicle into a parked car, involving a total of three vehicles in the accident.

Meanwhile, a separate pile-up involving seven vehicles was reported on the busy Atal Setu stretch on May 5. According to one of the drivers involved, the accident occurred after a vehicle allegedly skidded on an oil spill on the road, causing the driver to lose control and triggering a chain collision involving several vehicles behind it.
