Tiatrists will have to wait till May 15 for the resumption of tiatr shows at Margao’s Ravindra Bhavan -- considered the Mecca of tiatr.
For, the ongoing works in respect of the stage and sound system is expected to be competed in all respects only in the first week of May. While the Ravindra bhavan will play host to a Tiatr on May 4 as part of the trial run, the auditorium will be thrown open for commercial use only from May 15, informed Ravindra bhavan, Chairman, Rajendra Talak.
Given the delay in completing the repair works, Talak had a meeting with a delegation of tiatrists recently to brief them about the ground reality and the time required to cap the ongoing works.
“We have explained to the delegation of tiatrists about the ongoing work and the likely resumption of shows at the Ravindra Bhavan. Around 80 per cent of the work on the replacement of the stage stands completed. We have also explained to the tiatrists that Ravindra Bhavan has taken up the work of changing the sound system. Once these two works are completed, tiatrists as well as tiatr lovers can look forward for better facilities at the Ravindra Bhavan”, Talak added.
Explaining the ongoing work, a senior PWD official said the Ravindra bhavan stage, which is made up of three layers have been replaced as part of the work specifications. “Such works consume time since the
layers have to be laid carefully. The work is nearing completion and we will soon hand over the stage to Ravindra Bhavan”, the PWD official added.
