Traffic diversions announced for Annual Shree Damodar Saptah in Vasco

PANAJI: In preparation for the Annual Shree Damodar Saptah celebrations, the Vasco Traffic Police have announced major traffic diversions and parking restrictions in the city from July 30 to August 5.

According to an official press note issued by the Traffic Cell, Swatantrapath Road will remain closed to all types of vehicular traffic from St. Andrew’s Church Junction to IOC Junction starting 1 pm on July 30 till August 5. Additionally, Fr. Joseph Vaz Road, from Leena Hotel/Bombay Auto Parts to the Old Electricity Office near Vasco Court, will also be barricaded and closed for vehicles.

Traffic moving in and out of Vasco/Mormugao will be rerouted via F. L. Gomes Road at St. Andrew’s Church Junction. Parking will be strictly prohibited on the stretch from the New KTC Bus Stand to St. Andrew’s Church.

Designated parking zones have been arranged near Taniya Hotel, Tilak Maidan, the KTC Bus Stand in Vasco, and along the internal road leading from the IOC Junction to MPT Gate No. 09. Additional parking for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers will also be available at the open ground near Taniya Hotel, with general parking spaces spread across the city.

To ease congestion, the movement of heavy vehicles will be restricted for 24 hours on July 30 and 31. From August 1 to 5, heavy vehicles will be banned from 7 am to 11 pm daily.

Vehicular traffic from Chicalim and Mangor heading into Vasco will be compulsorily diverted via the Up Ramp Exit near Maharaja Hotel/HPCL Gate Junction along F. L. Gomes Road. These vehicles will exit through NH 566 towards Varunapuri, Verna, Margao, and Panaji, thereby avoiding congestion on NH 366.

The Vasco Traffic Police have urged the public to cooperate with traffic personnel during the festive period to ensure safe and efficient traffic management.
