A riverfront administrative building shaped like a ship and built at a cost of nearly Rs 48.87 crore is expected to become the latest symbol of Goa’s push to modernise its maritime infrastructure, as Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the facility in Panaji on June 8.
Built by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation, the facility comprises G+3 structures to strengthen monitoring and navigation control along the coastline. Information shared with the media reveals that the building adopts a ship-inspired architectural design and includes modern operational facilities intended for maritime administration.
The project has a total built-up area of 4,405 sqm and has been executed for Rs 48.87 crore. It rests on a pile foundation and combines structural steel and reinforced concrete components.
As per departmental requirements, the facility includes an amphitheatre and a restaurant within the complex. Authorities said these spaces may be used to generate additional revenue if leased or rented in future operations.
Moreover, the building includes ticketing counters, lifts, waiting areas, conference halls, administrative offices, and public facilities overlooking the riverfront.
