
Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Vijay Natekar and others during the tree plantation programme organised under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative in Bicholim.
Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye on Friday stated that large-scale tree plantation drives and preservation of trees are essential to increase green cover and conserve nature, especially since global warming is posing a serious threat to the environment worldwide.
He appealed to every family in Bicholim constituency to plant at least one sapling as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative and contribute towards fulfilling the resolve of undertaking large-scale tree plantation in the constituency.
He was speaking at a tree plantation programme organissed by the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha and Mandal Committee at the ITI premises in Vhalshi.
Among those present on the occasion were Mahila Morcha President Archana Gaikwad, Yuva President Dattaraj Mashelkar, Vishwas Gaonkar, BJP Mandal President Dr Kaustubh Patnekar, General Secretary Sanjay Shetye, Bicholim Municipal Council Chairperson Vijay Natekar, Deepa Pal, Aparna Fogeri, Ranjana Vaigankar, Aniket Chanekar, Deepa Shirgaonkar, Rahul Malik, along with BJP youth workers, women workers, councillors and local residents.
Dr Shetye said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has resolved to create a green cover of 10 lakh trees across the state under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative and that Bicholim constituency would extend wholehearted support to this mission.
On the occasion, Dr Kaustubh Patnekar appealed to every family to plant and nurture at least one tree in response to the message given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
