Parra fatality puts focus on road safety across state - The Goan Everyday - July 21, 2025. It is distressing to note the death of a woman in a road accident on the Parra-Mapusa road, reportedly on account of bad road surfaces, potholes or craters, whatever one wishes to call them. This issue of bad roads, however, is a big issue across other cities like Mumbai as well. While the authorities focus on building road infrastructure, it seems that sufficient attention is not paid to the quality, with the result that they end up spending exorbitant sums on repairing potholes and craters on an ongoing basis. Take a look at the newly opened bridges or highways. How many more lives must be lost before the authorities come to this realisation? They must understand that every life is precious.
