Stop dividing people over language issue

It’s surprising that Marathi-medium government schools exist in Goa, considering Marathi is Maharashtra’s mother tongue. Why should Goa, where Konkani is the official language, run Marathi schools?

Some claim Marathi schools are disappearing, but the reality is that many Marathi-speaking parents now choose English-medium schools for their children’s better future.

It is ultimately a parent's right to decide their child’s education, and no one, including Velingkar, should pressure them into choosing Marathi-medium schools.

When students from all over India study in Goa, why is there a push for Marathi? The truth is, even politicians and activists demanding Marathi education send their own children to English-medium schools. Why pressure the poor and middle-class families to choose otherwise? Every child deserves the best opportunity, and in today’s world, English-medium education often provides that.

Let Konkani be respected as Goa’s true mother tongue. Let parents freely choose what’s best for their children without political interference. Stop dividing people over language. Support all Goan children—rich or poor—in becoming confident, successful individuals and proud citizens of Goa.
