With reference to the letter ' Noah's' Ark --- deja vu all over again' by Robert Castellino (TGE, Apr1), I would like to comment as follows: In the first place it is not correct to draw a parallel with the biblical account of the destruction of the world through floods and the present reckless activities of man leading to the destruction of the environment and ecosystem. Basically it was because of the wickedness of man that God chose to destroy the world, and not because of the destruction of Mother Earth through his worldly activities. Finally, it is important to remember that we are all accountable to God . A responsibility that enjoins upon us the obligation to respect the laws of nature and to ensure the harmony of human beings with God and nature , which was God's original plan and purpose of creation. Pope Francis in his encyclical 'Laudato Si' refers to the earth as " our common home, which we are called to build and protect" .
