Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will not be available to the public in Goa from 24 to 26 May due to official work in New Delhi, including meetings with NITI Aayog and a conference of Chief Ministers, according to a statement from the CMO.
Meanwhile, heavy unseasonal rain and strong winds have been causing serious problems across Goa since last Tuesday. Many areas are flooded, and water has entered people’s homes. Large trees have been uprooted, damaging houses, vehicles, and other private property.
At a time when the state is facing such a crisis, the Chief Minister’s absence raises serious concerns. In such situations, people expect their elected leader to stay back, offer support, and oversee relief efforts. If the Chief Minister chooses to prioritise meetings in Delhi over standing with Goans during a natural disaster, it raises questions about his commitment. Many feel that he should step down in the interest of the people of Goa.
