Sawant’s river Sal inspection sans Cabral raises eyebrows

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | NOVEMBER 19, 2022, 12:35 AM IST

He came and he saw, but Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s inspection of river Sal has indeed raised eyebrows in Saxtti political circles. For, the CM visited the site with Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Venzybab Viegas, who just a fortnight ago took his PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral head on over river Sal pollution. Questions are being raised why Pramodbab did not get his PWD Minister with him for the inspection. Or, is it that the CM has now assumed full responsibility for putting the river Sal in place. Many questions indeed remain unanswered at a time when Venzybab has not stopped demanding the sacking of Nilesh Cabral.

Vijai’s support to Cabral gives a new twist

Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai seems on a fishing expedition in troubled river Sal over the Cabral-Venzy face-off. At a time when eyebrows were raised over the saffron brigade’s silence over AAP MLA Venzybab’s attack on the PWD Minister, the Goa Forward chief has come out in support of Nilesh Cabral. For a moment, Fatordekars were left to wonder whether Vijaibab has forgotten his face-off with Cabral in the past and how the Curchorem MLA had descended in his fiefdom in support of rivals. What made Vijaibab announce that Cabral is a man of action and who is the new BJP MLA who has set his eyes on the PWD portfolio and hoping for Cabral’s ouster from the Cabinet has only added a new twist to the river Sal saga.

Surprising! Kamat mum over river Sal pollution

As the storm kicked up over river Sal pollution refused to die down in Saxttidom, one MLA who has maintained silence over the burning issue is Diggu. It’s an open secret that the discharge of raw sewage into the river Sal from the commercial capital 24x7 is the root cause of pollution. Some time ago, both Venzybab Viegas and Diggu had descended on the banks of river Sal to take a pledge to save the river. The Benaulim MLA has gone hammer and tongs against Nileshbab Cabral, but nothing has been heard yet from Diggu. Is it because Diggu is now part of the saffron dispensation or is it simply that he is silent knowing well that his fiefdom is responsible for the messy river. Any questions?

Did Congress do a rethink on dharnas against 8 turncoats?

Has the Congress leadership led by GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar do a rethink on plans to hold dharnas at the residence of the eight party turncoats, who defected to the BJP in mid-September. Well, it’s now two months since the eight Congress MLAs quit the party to embrace the BJP. The leadership led by party general secretary Eversonbab Vales had staged its first demonstration at the residence of Congress-turned-BJP MLA Aleixobab Sequeira’s residence before the Goa Police played spoilsport. Since then the fate of the dharnas remains unknown. Any questions?

When WRD minister spoke more about agriculture dept

Water Resources Department Minister Subhashbab Shirodkar seems to be a man in a hurry. He is one Minister who is seen on the ground almost every day, inspecting damaged bundhs and silted water bodies across the State. The next time you come across the WRD Minister on the ground, do not be surprised if he talks more about the Department of Agriculture headed by Ponda strongman Ravibab Naik. He may not have set his eyes on the Agriculture portfolio, but he drives home a point in his inimitable fashion – why should the WRD repair the bundhs and water bodies if farmers do not return to the fields? Any takers?
