AAP’s vision to form govt in 2027 raises eyebrows in Cong camp

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | JANUARY 21, 2024, 12:53 AM IST

Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has returned back to the national capital after his two-day Goa visit, but the Congress camp seemed to have been left to wonder and ponder – whether the party will have to pay a price for an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party as part of the INDIA opposition combine. For, Kejriwal’s vision to form a government in Goa in 2027 seemed to have raised many an eyebrow in Congress circles. A senior Congress leader wondered over the very future of the Congress in the political scheme of things if one goes by AAP’s vision to form government in Goa in 2027. Any questions.

Congress leaders perplexed over Venzy’s claim for S Goa LS seat

Aam Aadmi Party Benaulim MLA Capt Venzybab’s claim on the South Goa Lok Sabha seat makes reading very interesting. The vocal MLA even went to the extent of saying that AAP has winnable candidates, who can win the seat for the INDIA block. Congress leaders in private appear perplexed over the unfolding political developments, more so when the Congress has a sitting MP representing South Goa. What’s interesting to note is that Venzybab’s statement has come three days after Congress Goa observer Manikrao Thakare had exuded confidence of the party winning both the Lok Sabha seats. Any questions.

Amid seat-sharing talks, Goa Cong against forfeiting South Goa seat

As the Congress High Command and AAP national leadership are engaged in negotiations for seat-sharing for the coming Lok Sabha polls, Congress leaders in private question whether the party leadership will sacrifice and surrender the South Goa seat to AAP in order to make gains in seat-sharing in other states. In fact, party workers seemed anxiously looking forward to the leadership in Delhi to clear the air, post-Kejriwal visit to Goa. A Congress leader remarked that the leadership should assert that the party would not give up South Goa seat come what may irrespective of the fate of the alliance with AAP. Wait and watch.

Eye on S Goa LS seat, CM planning ‘Viksit Bharat’ during PM’s visit

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant in particular and the BJP leadership in general seemed not leaving anything to chance vis-à-vis the coming Lok Sabha polls. Against the backdrop of party’s determined bid to wrest the South Goa seat from the Congress, the ruling party seemed going systematically to capitalise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Goa for the India Energy Week at ONGC, Betul scheduled on February 6.  In fact, the CM along with party leaders in tow descended in Margao during the weekend to scout open space in Margao to host the Viksit Bharat programme coinciding with the PM’s visit to Betul. Wait and watch.

All eyes on Vishwajit as controversy surrounds Margao Master Plan

What has Urban Development Minister Vishwajitbab Rane got to say on the controversy surrounding the Master Plan 2041 for Margao? After Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai warned alliance partner-turned-foe, Digambarbab Kamat not to thrust the plan on Fatorda, political observers have been trying to figure out whether Vijaibab has sent an SOS to his close friend, Urban Development Minister Vishwajitbab Rane on the master plan. Reason: Diggu might have presided over GSUDA when agricultural fields were acquired two decades ago. Sources, however, say that Viswajitbab is now heading the GSUDA, which has appointed an agency to prepare the Master Plan. Wait and watch.
