Cannabis plantation busted at Borim, drugs worth Rs 8.5 lakh seized, one arrested

In another major drug bust, the Anti-Narcotic Cell of Goa Police have busted a hydroponic cannabis plantation at Borim with the arrest of a 31-year-old local Yuvraj Borkar, accused of cultivating high quality hydroponic weed.

The accused was also found in possession of 150 gms of hydroponic weed, 1 kilo Ganja and 15 gms of MDMA, all worth Rs 8.50 lakh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (ANC) Nerlon Albuquerque informed the media that the accused – a civil engineer by qualification – would import seeds from an international website and cultivate hydroponic cannabis in the basement at his residence at Borim.

"The accused further after cultivating the contraband used to sell them at a cheaper rate in North Goa coastal belt," he said.

The ANC have also seized from his possession a two-wheeler scooter, one mobile phone, three LED glow lights and voltage converters, all worth Rs 2 lakh.
