MARGAO
The Congress has filed a complaint before the National Election Observer Sergun Shukla IPS, and District Election Officer Asvin Chandru A IAS, demanding intervention and action against the denial of Lohia Maidan premises for an election campaign meeting.

In the representation, the Congress charged unfair practice adopted by the ruling government through their local body, the Margao Municipal Council, by which permission for the use of Lohia Maidan has been arbitrarily denied. The denial of the Lohia Maidan premises at Margao, owned by the Margao Municipal Council, is with the sole purpose of preventing the Indian National Congress from conducting its final election campaign meeting scheduled for May 4, stated Margao Congress leader Savio Coutinho.

The INC made a strong request to conduct an inquiry into the matter so as to ascertain the genuineness of the reasons for denial. He called for the verification as to when the electricity department had certified the existence of the technical fault with the electricity supply at the Lohia Maidan premises.

The Central Observer and South District Election Officer were requested to intervene in the matter and direct the Margao Municipal Council to permit the INC to use the Lohia Maidan premises on May 4.

In order to prove that the denial was indeed a sabotage, the INC stated that the entire electricity supply to the Lohia Maidan premises be totally disconnected and that the INC shall use generators as an alternative, along with their own fixtures for illumination purposes.
