Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant appeared confidence personified when he thundered from the home turf of Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai that the Lotus will bloom in Fatorda in 2027. What BJP karyakartas from Fatorda did not hear from the CM was whether the party will again field BJP chief Damubab Naik to cross swords against arch rival Vijaibab. For, the CM made no mention whether Damubab will be party’s flag bearer in Fatorda or whether the saffron brigade is exploring new faces. Any questions? Plenty — especially within BJP’s own ranks.
Fatorda war of words: Damu dares Vijai’s decade in office
Fatorda’s political stage is just heating up. BJP State President Damu Naik seemed to have come well prepared for the BJP Fatorda Karyakarta Melava earlier this week. In a fiery address, Damubab threw down a gauntlet at arch rival Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai, challenging the MLA to name a single signature project executed in Fatorda after his exit in 2012. He did not stop there. Damubab went a step further declaring he would quit politics if Vijaibab could name a single project. Wait and watch.
Goa Forward cautions Sawant over BJP chief’s ties with Kamat
This may sound strange but true that the opposition Goa Forward party has cautioned Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant to be wary of the relationship between BJP Goa chief Damubab Naik and Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu. In fact, Goa Forward councillor Raju Naik minced no words when he claimed that the BJP State president is working overtime to give entry to Diggu in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet with an eye on the Chief Minister’s position. Sounds surprising isn’t it when an Opposition party is sounding a caution to the CM to beware of his own party leaders.
GF vs Cong: Turf war brews in Margao ahead of 2027
Will the Congress concede the Margao seat to the Goa Forward party in the event the alliance partner stakes claim on the prestigious seat in the 2027 Assembly election? No way, is a reaction emanating from the Congress camp days after Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai announced plans to enter Margao in the 2026 civic polls and in 2027. Congress leaders in private questioned why the party should give up a seat it has held since 2005 during Digambar Kamat’s stint with the party. Any questions?
