Curtorim Gymkhana were crowned champions of the 32nd Arlem Trophy as they defeated Nuvem SC 2-1 in the finals at Raia ground.

Nuvem scored the first goal through Sanford Colaco before Curtorim equalised through Afileo Fernandes to make it 1-1 in the first half. In the second half, Curtorim Gymkhana scored the match-winning goal through Jovel Martin, 2-1.

Awards: Best goalkeeper - Prakash Joshi (Curtorim Gymkhana); Best defender - Mario Mascarenhas (Curtorim Gymkhana); Best striker - Joywin Carnerio (Curtorim Gymkhana); Man of the match - Nickson Castanha (Curtorim Gymkhana).

Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. The winners bagged a prize of Rs 60,000.

PY Nuvem in Betalbatim Villagers Cup final
Parish Youth Nuvem beat Sao Jose de Areal SC 4-2 via the tiebreaker to enter the final of the Betalbatim Villagers Cup inter-village football tournament at Betalbatim ground on Thursday.

Areal took the lead through Marcus Mascarenhas' penalty before Joywin Costa also scored a spot kick to equalise for PY Nuvem. In the tiebreaker, Joywin Costa, Inacio Colaco and Meislein Barreto netted for PY Nuvem while only Marcus Mascarenhas shot on target for Areal. Mackvino Colaco of Parish Youth Nuvem was adjudged as the Man of the Match.

GFA U-15: Salcete FC win South Goa playoffs
Salcete FC emerged triumphant in the GFA U-15 Division II South Goa Playoffs final by defeating CAC Cansaulim 1-0 in a thrilling showdown at Nagoa ground.

Salcete FC's V Soares broke the deadlock in the 30th minute. CAC Cansaulim fought well but were unable to find an equaliser throughout the match. The victory for Salcete FC marked a remarkable achievement for the team as they showcased their tactical prowess and teamwork throughout the tournament.

MGHH restarts coaching at St Cruz
Mummy's Goa Helping Hands & CAPFCC have restarted football coaching at St Cruz Village Ground, St Cruz for children born between 2005 to 2012. For the opening function, Kliben Fernandes, ex-member of MGHH, Jonathan Fernandes, ex-member of MGHH and Tushar Anand Bhagat, CAPFCC head, were present. Fifty-two players registered on the first day.

Mandar in joint lead with 3 others
At the end of the fourth round of AICF's Chess For Everyone Fide Rating Chess Tournament 2023, top seed Mandar Lad (Fide Rating 1961), Ayush Pednekar (1590), Paarth Salvi (1623) and Rishikesh Parab (1436) maintained joint lead with 4 points in 4 rounds.

Mandar Lad of Goa beat Shaik Samad (1355) of Andhra Pradesh on the top board. On the second board, Paarth Salvi of Goa beat Harshal Walde (1350)(Maha) while on the third board, Ayush Pednekar (Goa) (1590) beat Anish Naik (1360) (Goa).On the fourth board, Rishikesh Parab (1436) (Goa) got the better of Binu Sebastain (1328) of Karnataka. The tournament has got 65 rated players.
