MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club delivered a commanding performance to defeat Shiroda Youth Club 4-0 in a one-sided contest at the 26th Our Lady of Merces All-Goa 8-a-side Football Tournament, currently being played at Chinchinim.
Ambelim got off to a flying start, with Ozen Silva opening the scoring in just the 2nd minute. The early breakthrough set the tempo for the match, and Samson Fernandes doubled the lead in the 21st minute with a composed finish, giving Ambelim a 2-0 advantage going into the break.
The second half saw Ambelim continue their dominance. Samson Fernandes struck again in the 51st minute to complete his brace, before Ronit Correia added a fourth goal in the 57th minute with a well-timed strike off a precise through ball from the influential Fernandes.
Despite being under pressure for most of the match, Shiroda Youth Club had their moments. Pushkar Prabhu came close to pulling one back with a powerful shot that flew just wide. Both goalkeepers — Ozen Silva for Ambelim and Pearson Vaz for Shiroda — were tested and impressed with a series of fine saves throughout the match.
