PANAJI: Babu Gaonkar of Sanguem and Uddesh Majik of Parye, Sattari have been selected to represent India at the UIPM World Pentathlon Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run World Championships, scheduled to be held in Mossel Bay, South Africa, from December 9 to 14.
Babu Gaonkar will compete in the Laser Run event, while Uddesh Majik will participate in the Triathle event. Both athletes are scheduled to depart India on December 4 from Mumbai.
Ramesh Tawadkar, Sports Minister, Government of Goa, along with Ajay Gaude, Director of Sports, Government of Goa, and Sanjiv Gadkar (IAS), Secretary (Protocol), Government of Goa, extended their congratulations to the athletes. Office bearers of the Modern Pentathlon Association of Goa also lauded their achievement and wished them success in the international championship.
