Cameroon Boys Seraulim got the better of Active Youth Soccobhatt Per Seraulim, beating them 3-2 in an exciting inter-Seraulim under-12 football tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at Church ground.
Cameroon Boys opened the account through their star striker Mark D'Costa in the 5th minute when he beautifully placed the ball into the far corner of the net after receiving a defence-splitting pass from Newzel Fernandes.
Hardly had the cheers died down, Cameroon Boys scored their second goal through Sean Fernandes when he ran down the left flank and nicely placed the ball past the advancing goalkeeper. At half time, Cameroon Boys led 2-0.
The second half saw Active Youth taking possession and they were in complete control in search of a goal. Their efforts bore fruit when Ashton dribbled a couple of defenders and smartly placed the ball into the far corner of the nets to make it 2-1.
Soon, Cameroon scored their third goal through Samrath to stun the Active Youth Boys, 3-1. Active Youth, however, kept up the pressure and scored again through Aditya Ray, 3-2. Thereafter, it was all Active Youth trying to find the equaliser but the Cameroon Boys stayed strong in the defence to eventually win 3-2 and emerge champions in the tournament.
In the second ladies' inter-Seraulim football match, Dare Devils proved to be better shooters in the penalty shootout, defeating Football Fanatics 2-0. In the shootout, Lucrencia Gomes and Annalisa scored for Dare Devils. For Football Fanatics, both the penalty kicks by Matty Vaz and Espy Gomes were saved by Dare Devils keeper Siona Fernandes.
