Goa made an impressive start to their campaign at the All India Inter Zonal Tennis Ball Cricket Championship in Nagrota Bagwan, Himachal Pradesh.
In the boys matches, Goa defeated Delhi by 6 wickets. Delhi, batting first, managed 40/4 in 6 overs, with Goa’s bowlers keeping the scoring in check. Chinmay Kerekar (1/13), Sanam Kalangutkar (1/5) and Shaurya Gaude (1/12) picked up a wicket each.
In response, Sarthak Satarkar (19 not out)* and Sanam Kalangutkar (14 not out)* ensured Goa chased the target in just 4.4 overs, securing a 6-wicket victory.
In the second match, Goa crushed Chandigarh by 8 wickets. Goa’s bowlers once again dominated, bowling out Chandigarh for a paltry 20 runs. Shaunak Naik (2/10), Chinmay Kerekar (2/5), and Shaurya Tari (1/4) were the pick of the bowlers.
Goa chased down the target in just 2 overs, with Sarthak Satarkar (9)* and Saiesh Naik (8)* guiding them home.
The third match saw Goa ease past Maharashtra by 8 wickets. Maharashtra’s batters had no answers to Goa’s disciplined bowling and were dismissed for 21 runs. Wickets were shared by Chinmay Kerekar (1/2), Shaurya Gaude (1/2) and Saurabh Gaonkar (1/3).
Goa chased the score in 1.4 overs, led by Sarthak Satarkar (12)* and *Vedant Pagi (7)**, sealing another dominant win.
In the girls category, Goa beat Maharashtra by 6 wickets. Maharashtra were bowled out for 30 runs, with Sandhya Rai (3/10) delivering a standout spell. She was supported by Pratiksha Kerkar (1/12) and Taniksha Gaude (1/5).
Goa chased the target comfortably in 3 overs, led by Purva Gawde (10 not out)* and Sandhya Rai (5).
Goa thrashed Karnataka by 67 runs. Goa posted a commanding total of 91 runs in 6 overs, with Sandhya Rai scoring an unbeaten 50, and Purva Gawde contributing 32 not out.
In reply, Karnataka could only muster 24/5, as Paridi Gaude (2/3), Snehal Velingkar (2/5), and Pratiksha Kerkar (3/6) dismantled their batting line-up.
