MARGAO: Cumborda SC advanced to the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 Inter-Ward Football Tournament with a narrow 1-0 victory over Novovaddo SC. The tournament is being organized by Sporting Club Virabhat at the St. Alex Church Ground in Curtorim.
The lone goal of the match came early, in the 10th minute, when Rio Fernandes found the back of the net after receiving a well-placed pass from Valzino Fernandes, giving Cumborda an early lead.
Novovaddo came close to equalizing twice, but luck was not on their side. In the first half, Milagres Fernandes saw his powerful shot crash into the post and go out of play. In the second half, Myson Fernandes' effort rattled the crossbar as Novovaddo continued to press for a goal.
Rio Fernandes was named Man of the Match for his decisive goal. The award was presented by Diago Fernandes, a founder member of Sporting Club Virabhat.
