CES College, Rosary College storm into semis

CES College, Rosary College stormed into the semifinals on the second day of the 2nd Inter-College Football Tournament, organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports in collaboration with the Students’ Council of CES College of Arts and Commerce, at the DSYA Ground, Ambelim.

In the first match of the day, CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim overpowered Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem with a thumping 6–1 victory.

Saish Gaonkar and Royson Colaco led the scoring with two goals each, while Asfin Pinto and Praney Velip added one goal apiece. Swapnesh Velip scored the lone goal for Quepem.

For his clinical finishing and attacking flair, Saish Gaonkar was adjudged Man of the Match.

In the second match, Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim registered a dominant 5–0 win against Shree Mallikarjun and Shree Chetan Manju Dessai College, Canacona.

Rosary’s goals came from Ashnoy Gomes, Ashwek Jadav, and Naythan Coutinho, each scoring once, while Roshan Jadav netted a brace.

Ashnoy Gomes was named Man of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance.

The semi-final matches will be held on August 21. MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar will take on Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim while Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim will clash with CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim.
