Cuncolim Union kicked off their campaign in the 1st All Goa Inter Village Mansion House Cup 2025 with an emphatic 3–0 victory over Varca SC at the Cuncolim Ground on Thursday
The home side started with intent, pressing high and creating early chances. Vinod Velip tested the Varca goalkeeper in the 4th minute following a sharp assist from Tushar Gaonkar. Daulat Dessai also made an enterprising run shortly after, but the Varca keeper was alert to deny the effort. The pressure continued to mount with Cuncolim earning a corner in the 13th minute, though Velip’s effort was cleared off the line.
Despite several chances—misses from Velip and Dessai in the 15th and 18th minutes, and a near miss by Vedant Naik in the 22nd minute—the breakthrough finally came in the 28th minute. Wilson Fernandes calmly slotted home to put Cuncolim Union ahead 1–0 before halftime.
Cuncolim wasted no time after the restart, as Tushar Gaonkar doubled the lead in the 32nd minute with a composed finish. He nearly made it 3–0 in the 38th, but was denied by the Varca goalkeeper. Moments later, Vinod Velip struck the post with a fierce shot.
The result was sealed in the 42nd minute when Jollyton Fernandes found the back of the net, completing a dominant 3–0 win for Cuncolim Union.
Despite the scoreline, Varca SC showed resilience, with their defense and goalkeeper working hard to hold off the relentless Cuncolim attack.
Jollyton Fernandes was named the Mansion House Man of the Match for his outstanding contribution. The award was presented by noted social worker Videsh Yeshant Dessai.
