Navelim Sporting booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Curtorim Villagers Cup 2025 with a nail-biting 5–4 victory over Guardian Angel SC in a penalty shootout, after both teams played out a goalless draw in regulation time. The tournament organized by Curtorim Gymkhana was held at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.

The match began with Guardian Angel SC creating the first real opportunity in the 9th minute, but Regan Costa's shot was brilliantly saved by Navelim goalkeeper Mahboob Husain. Shortly after, Navelim’s Ronaldo Pereira missed a golden chance to open the scoring. Despite a few attacking moves from both sides, the first half ended 0–0.

The second half continued in similar fashion, with both teams creating chances but failing to convert, as the strikers lacked the finishing touch. With no goals in regulation time, the match was decided via a penalty shootout.

Navelim Sporting scored through Ronaldo Pereira, Noah Luis, Sam Pereira, Sherlock Dias, Mohammed Gundar while Fhezer Gomes, Valentino Carvalho, Preston Castano, Milroy Clemente were on target for Guardian Angel SC.

Selvin Gomes of Navelim Sporting was named Man of the Match for his solid performance. He was presented the award by Santan Rodrigues (Former President, Curtorim Gymkhana) and Mario D’Costa (Former Treasurer, Curtorim Gymkhana).
