CRC Chinchinim produced a dominant display to secure a comprehensive 5-2 win over United Club Verna in an exciting clash of the ongoing Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side Football Tournament, organized by Sirlim Sports Club.
Verna drew first blood in the 3rd minute through Clifton Rebello, who curled in a stunning long-range effort that left the CRC goalkeeper stranded. However, CRC responded in style. Chadel Fernandes leveled the score in the 13th minute, dribbling past three defenders before calmly finishing.
The momentum swung decisively in CRC's favour in the 29th minute, when Steflon D’Costa netted to give his side the lead.
Post halftime, CRC tightened their grip on the game. Velrose Dias added a third in the 33rd minute, followed by goals from Rowan Fernandes (41’) and Senoy Olivera (52’) to take the score to a commanding 5-1.
Royson Moniz pulled one back for Verna in the 57th minute, but it served only as a consolation.
CRC’s goalkeeper Sunny Fernandes earned plaudits for his solid performance between the posts, making key saves that kept Verna from gaining any real foothold in the match.
