V Dempo HSS of Arts Science and Commerce, Cujira secured the Tiswadi taluka Subroto Mukherjee football tournament title, defeating Fr Agnel High School, Pilar 5-0 in the finals played at St Cruz football ground.
Dempo HSS led 3-0 at half time. Vedant Gadekar (5th minute) with a curved corner kick opened the scoring for Dempo. Mehboob Tambekar (15th and 25th minutes) scored twice in the first half. In the second half, Ashon (40th minute) and Kayden Faleiro (61st minute) increased the margin with a beautiful display of passing and ball tackling.
Dempo HSS will now meet the winners of Bicholim taluka in the inter-district playoff to be played at Duler Stadium.
Sesa Goa hold football pop-up camp at Mulgao
Vedanta Sesa Goa held its fourth football pop-up camp at Government High School, Mulgao recently. The event saw participation from over 100 students.
The camp was attended by Swati Aarondekar, Principal, Government High School, Mulgao, coaches from Sesa Football Academy (SFA), Joao Rebello, Joyner Antao and Ananth Adkonkar along with Ashish Pilankar, Head CSR & PR, IOG and Laxman Dhargalkar, Head, Wet Beneficiation Plant, Bicholim.
Guided by experienced coaches, the young participants were exposed to a plethora of activities designed to strengthen their camaraderie, improve technical prowess, and develop freestyling techniques.
GABA doctor nominated as ringside medical officer
MARGAO: Dr Ashwin Mascarenhas, a doctor with Goa Amateur Boxing Association, has been selected and nominated by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) as Ringside Medical Officer for the REC Talent Hunt Open Boxing Championship to be held at Rothak, Haryana from September 4 to 13. Dr Ashwin is a sportsperson himself, having represented Goa in swimming at national meets. He is expected to be inducted into the BFI Medical Committee.
