Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda pipped Raia Sporting Club 1-0 to enter the semi-finals of 6th Martin's Cup, organised by Betalbatim Sports Club, at panchayat ground, Betalbatim, on Friday.
The match started on a promising note and both teams showed urgency in taking the lead. In the 14th minute, Raia's Eldon Colaco gave a through pass to Wilfred Gomes who missed the opportunity to score. At the other end, Don Bosco Oratory's Minguel Barreto shot from the box deflected Raia's defence and bounced back in the play. Fr Mario found the ball who made no mistake to tap into the net in the 24th minute.
The half time score remained 1-0 in favour of Don Bosco Oratory.
Changing over, Raia missed an open header by Delan to equalise in the 50th minute. Eldon Colaco, Achilles and Garrison tried to equalise for Raia but Minguel Barreto, Rahul Sharma and Meviton Barbosa played a major role and remained intact and made no mistakes to take Don Bosco Oratory into the semi-finals.
Fr Mario Noronha was awarded the man of the match by Cleto Cota Sr Member and ex-president of Betalbatim Club.
