MARGAO: FC Siolim edged past USC Seraulim 1–0 to book their place in the semifinals of the 18th All Goa Inter-Village Seraulim Panchayat Cup Football Tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim and played at the Seraulim Panchayat Ground.
The decisive moment came as early as the third minute when a defensive lapse by Seraulim allowed Gaurav Vaigankar of FC Siolim to capitalise, firing home from close range to give his side the lead.
Seraulim pushed hard in search of an equaliser, but the Siolim defence held firm under pressure. Siolim nearly doubled their advantage in the 20th minute when striker Selroy Fernandes cleverly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper, only for a Seraulim player to clear it off the line.
FC Siolim will now face UC Verna in the second semifinal scheduled for April 29.
Gaurav Vaigankar was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Augustin Gomes, proprietor of Gomes Bakery.
