Baroda ended the opening day on 275 for 6 against Goa in their CK Nayudu Trophy (Under-23, four-day)Elite Group.A` encounter, which commenced on Friday at the GCA ground in Sanguem.
After electing to bat first on winning the toss, Baroda were rocked early as Chigurupati Venkata and Samarth Rane dismissed Nitya Pandya and Dhruv Patel to reduce them to 18 for 2.
A commanding 196-run partnership between Harsh Desai and Priyanshu Moliya then turned the innings around. Desai struck a well-compiled 125, while Moliya played a fluent knock of 106 to take Baroda to 214 for 2. The breakthrough came when Anuj Yadav dismissed Moliya, caught and bowled, after which Baroda lost quick wickets and slipped from 214 for 2 to 253 for 6. At stumps, Dhruv Patel (12 not out) and Raj Limbani (10 not out) were batting, taking Baroda to a solid total by the end of the day's play.
Anuj Yadav was the pick of the Goa bowlers with figures of 3 for 63, while Chigurupati Venkata, Samarth Rane, and Yash Kasvankar picked up a wicket apiece.
