Government College, Quepem (GCQ) delivered a commendable performance at the Inter-Collegiate Cross Country Championship, hosted by Rosary College, Navelim on July 25. Competing against a strong field of around 100 athletes from colleges across Goa, both the GCQ men’s and women’s teams secured Runners-Up positions in their respective categories.
The event featured a challenging 9 km race for both men and women, drawing spirited participation and showcasing impressive endurance and determination from all athletes. Winners and top-performing teams were felicitated with trophies during the award ceremony.
In the men's category, Viraj Gaonkar led the charge with a 3rd place individual finish, supported by teammates Sidhant Gaonkar, Terence Simoes, Sahil Gaonkar, Sydroy Fernandes, Levis Pereira, Velly Fernandes, Nikhil Gaonkar, Ashish Velip, and Vishawesh Velip.
In the women’s category, Shivani Wadekar stood out with a 2nd place individual finish, along with strong efforts from Samiksha Daifode, Muskan Sharma, Sanisha Velip, Sibal Fernandes, Sana Arlikatti, Andrea Monteiro, Sapna Patil, and Shalu Chauhan.
