Navelim Sporting Club booked their spot in the next round of the 3rd Fr. Bruno Leitao Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament with a solid 2–0 win over Fr. Agnelo YC, Paroda. The tournament, organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at Chinchinim Church Ground on Wednesday.
The first half saw Navelim Sporting dominate proceedings but fail to find the net. Vellington Almeida came close in the 10th minute with a long-range strike, while Ronaldo Pereira had a golden opportunity in the 14th minute, only to be denied by a sharp save from the Fr. Agnelo goalkeeper. Fr. Agnelo had a chance of their own in the 16th minute with a free-kick just outside the box, but the attempt failed to trouble the keeper.
The breakthrough finally came after the restart. In the 49th minute, Ronaldo Pereira made up for his earlier miss with a well-taken goal to give Navelim a 1–0 lead. Just five minutes later, Meliston Dias doubled the advantage in the 54th minute, finishing off a swift attacking move to seal the result.
