The government has announced plans to establish more Khelo Goa centres across the State, following the successful setup of two such centres in Ponda and Sankhali.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made the announcement while allocating Rs 202.90 crore for the Sports and Youth Affairs Department in the State budget. He also assured that several ongoing sports-related projects would be completed this year.
As part of the government’s sports infrastructure push, playgrounds are being developed at Madkai, Neturlim School, Sankhali College, Sao Jose de Areal, Goa Velha, Mandrem, Sada Vasco, Guirdolim, Paroda and Cumbarjua. Additionally, football development projects are underway at Shirli and Colva.
The State has also taken up renovation and upgradation of sports complexes in Sao Mathias, Curtorim and Betalbatim, while work on developing a cricket pitch and long jump track is in progress in Cuncolim.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring the productive use of sports facilities across Goa, promoting youth participation and sports development at all levels.
