Margao Sports Club booked their place in the semifinals of the 1st Late Antonio Colaco Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Mandopa SC, after edging past Sporting Club of Davorlim 6-5 in a dramatic tiebreaker at the Rosary Church Ground on Friday.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation time. Rahul Sharma gave Margao the lead in the 14th minute, but William Niasso equalised for Davorlim in the 55th minute, setting up a tense finish.
In the decisive penalty shootout, Margao SC held their nerve to emerge victorious and seal a semifinal spot.
Despite his team’s loss, William Niasso was adjudged the Man of the Match for his impressive performance throughout the game.
