National Games beach soccer: Goa reach semis, set up Lakshadweep clash

Hosts Goa will clash with Lakshadweep while Kerala will take on Punjab in the semi-finals of the National Games beach soccer on Tuesday evening at Colva Beach.

Goa will play the second semi-final of the evening at 4.30 pm while the first one will start at 3 pm.

The Bruno Coutinho-coached side finished with an all-win record to claim the top spot in Group B with three wins and nine points, followed by Punjab, who made it to the last-four stage with six points from three matches.

On Monday, Goa continued in the same fashion as they had done in the previous two matches to notch yet another big win. Having started their campaign with a 12-3 win over Odisha, the hosts followed up with an 18-5 demolition of Punjab and then demolished Uttarakhand with an 18-5 scoreline in the final group game.

Satish Naik scored five goals while Pedro Antonio Gonsalves scored four goals. The other scorers were Kashinath Subhash Rathod, Nehal Parab and Richard Cardoz, who scored two goals each. Latish Kunkolkar, Carl Joshua D’souza and Pratik Dhargalkar scored one goal apiece.

Sarshan C scored three goals for Uttarakhand while Mary Jesin Shagin and Chandan Karwa scored one goal apiece.
