Navelim Sporting Club get the better of Dicarpale Sports Club 5-2 via the tie-breaker to move to the final of the 2nd Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial Cup, organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Tuesday.
Navelim Sporting came close to take the lead in the second minute as Velington Almeida missed an opportunity to score with only goalkeeper to beat. At the other end, Ajay Raj of Dicarpale dribbled past the Navelim defence but the Navelim goalkeeper Jeet Gupta saved the attempt in a one-to-one situation. In the ninth minute, Prince Figueiredo shot straight into the Navelim goalkeeper's hands.
In the 14th minute, Dicarpale goalkeeper came up with a double save off Roven Pereira's attempt to take the lead. In 15th minute, Dicarpale took the lead through Sahil Imandar. Navelim Sporting equalised through Rovan Pereira just before the half time whistle.
In the second half, both the teams tried to score the match winner but failed to find the back of the net.
In the tie-breaker, Roven Pereira, Nash Pereira, Valinton DSilva, Venito Costa scored for Navelim while William Niasso was the only scorer for Dicarpale SC.
Jeet Gupta of Navelim Sporting was awarded the player of the match which was handed over by Julio Fernandes, Zilla Parishad Member, Velim Constituency.
