Parish Youth Nuvem secured a dramatic 8-7 penalty shootout victory over Saligao United to advance to the quarterfinals of the 17th London Trophy Inter Village Football Tournament 2025, organized by Goa Velha Sports Club in Margao.
Nuvem took the lead in the 28th minute through Schubert Colaco, after Meislein Barreto's earlier effort was saved. Joywin Costa extended Nuvem's advantage in the 42nd minute. However, Saligao United fought back, with Michael Dias reducing the deficit in the 65th minute and Latesh Mandrekar equalizing with a free-kick in the 67th minute, forcing the game to a tiebreaker.
In the tense penalty shootout, Joywin Costa, Darwin Colaco, Schubert Colaco, Cedar Colaco, Meislein Barreto, and Salfan Dias converted for Nuvem, while Paulo Joao, Amancio Lobo, Latesh Mandrekar, Soham Shetikar, and Leon Kerketta scored for Saligao. Nuvem ultimately prevailed, winning the shootout 8-7.
Parish Youth Nuvem will now face Navelim Villagers Union in the quarterfinals on April 1. Joywin Costa of Parish Youth, Nuvem was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from Angelo Albuquerque, former Executive Committee Member of the Goa Football Association.
