MARGAO: Parish Youth Nuvem advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating FC Siolim 6–5 via the tie-breaker in the 2nd Vaidya Family Cup 2026 football tournament, organised by Cuncolim Union and played at the Government School Playground, Cuncolim, on Saturday.
FC Siolim took the lead in the 15th minute through Gaurav Vaingankar. Parish Youth Nuvem responded quickly, with Francis Colaco scoring the equaliser in the 20th minute. Nuvem then went ahead two minutes later to take a 2–1 lead at half-time.
In the second half, FC Siolim fought back and drew level in the 45th minute through a powerful strike by Siddhant Shirodkar, forcing the match into a tie-breaker. Parish Youth Nuvem proved to be the better shooters in the shootout, clinching a 6–5 victory to seal their place in the quarter-finals.
Francis Colaco of Parish Youth Nuvem was adjudged Man of the Match, with the award presented by Saud D’Souza.
