Vasco Sports Club announced that Joao Rebello has penned a deal as coach that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2023-25 season.
Rebello, a former footballer with a career spanning stints at Dempo U-19, Vasco Sports Club U-19, and HAL, Bangalore, brings a wealth of experience to his coaching role. His coaching resume includes leading the Goa women's team to a runners-up finish in the National Football Championship and serving as coach for the National Games hosted in Goa in 2023.
At 42, Rebello expressed enthusiasm about continuing the club's development programmes. "Vasco Sports Club has a systematic player pathway and a winning mentality that attracted me. My goal is to see our youth teams thrive and help as many players as possible progress to support the senior team," Rebello said.
He emphasised the importance of platforms like the Pro League for developing young talent and highlighted the club's aim to avoid relegation while focusing on player development.
"We started our practice sessions later than planned, but we've made significant progress in terms of player development. Our focus remains on achieving our goals and ensuring the continued success of our teams," Rebello concluded.
