S S Dempo College, St Xavier’s College emerge champions

The Goa University Inter Collegiate Badminton championship 2025-2026 for men and women was held at SAG Indoor Stadium, Campal recently.

S. S. Dempo College won the women's title while St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa emerged victorious in the men's category.

In the women's finals, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira defeated P.G. Goa University by 2-0. Riya Haldankar defeated Lesha Lotlikar 21-10, 21-13 in the first singles. Malaikar Lobo defeated Sarvadhnya Patil 21-6, 21-8 in the second singles.

In women semi-final, S.S. Dempo College defeated Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa by 2-0 and P G Goa University defeated Don Bosco College, Panjim by 2-0.

Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa and Don Bosco College, Panjim was awarded with joint third place.

The best player of the championship Women was awarded to Riya Haldankar from S.S. Dempo College, Cujira.

In a well-contested men's finals, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa defeated Don Bosco College Engineering, Fatorda by 3-0. In the first singles, Ashmeet Parsekar defeated Rahul Revankar 21-11, 21-6. Yousuf Shaikh defeated Sohan Kavlekar 21-14, 21-8 in the second singles. In the double Ashmeet Parsekar & Yousuf Shaikh defeated Sohan Kavlekar & Rahul Revankar 21-7, 21-7.

In the Men’s semi-finals, St. Xavier’s College defeated Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna by 3-1 and Don Bosco College Engineering defeated Don Bosco College, Panjim by 3-2.

Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna and Don Bosco College, Panjim was awarded with joint third place.

The best player of the championship Men was awarded to Yousuf Shaikh from St Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
