MARGAO: There were dramatic twists in the second round of the Goa Football League playoffs, as Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim staged a spirited comeback to hold unbeaten St Anthony's SC Marna, Siolim to a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Nagoa Panchayat ground.
St Anthony's SC looked well on course for a win after taking a 2-0 lead at the break, courtesy of goals from Nethan D’Souza and Shirodkar. But Cavelossim bounced back with determination in the second half. Captain Delzan Passanhas and Selwyn Fernandes found the net to earn their side a valuable point — a result that dents Siolim’s hopes of promotion to the professional league.
Meanwhile, over at the Duler Stadium, Candolim SC held Chapora YC to a goalless draw in a gritty defensive display. Despite the result, the draw works in Chapora's favour — they now need just a point from their final playoff match against St Anthony's SC to secure promotion for the 2025–26 season.
